Soldier's Wife Part 2

by Mark Rawlins   May 12, 2015

It's going to be emotional, that's all I can say.
It's going to be emotional, emotional all day.
Going down to London, going on the train,
Going down to London, then coming home again.

Kieran's quite excited, he thinks he'll see the Queen.
Jade's coming too, of course, she's hoping to be seen
on the telly, in her dress and her expensive shoes,
she told her Geoff to look for her on the early evening news.
We get off the train at Euston, then the tube train to South Ken.
We got the wrong train last time ... but Steve was there back then.

Kieran's got some comics, and some new computer games.
I don't know how he's going to cope when they read out all the names
of all the fallen heroes ... it's still hard to believe ...
all the fallen heroes ... and one of them is Steve.

It's going to be emotional, that's all I can say.
I'm going to be emotional, emotional all day.
All the dignitaries and royals that will fill the Albert Hall.
Dignitaries and royals, paying tribute to them all.
I'll try hard, for Steve, to hold back the tears.
It's hard to believe it's been nearly six years
since we got the phone call that changed all our lives,
and the card of condolence that they send to all the wives.

Kieran can't remember Steve, it really makes me sad ...
my little boy is growing up not knowing his own dad.
I wish he was still here.
I wish he hadn't gone.
Why did he join the army? I don't know what went wrong.
'You're responsibilities are here', I said.
But now he's a hero ... a hero who is dead.

It's going to be emotional, emotional all day.
It's going to be emotional ... and that's all I can say.
