Love Gone to Rust

by Untitled   May 28, 2015

Rippling memories of a distant past surface in a kiss through the glass
And I never thought I would speak your name again
But now it echoes on my lips

Trickling sorrow is worse than my storm
And you're the first to sense the sadness in my smile
But the reasons far too great, I can't explain
for even I don't seem to know

It's NOT because I woke up too early
It's NOT because my breath is the color of ice
I've got a haunting shimmer in the back of my eyes

Bubbling feelings as I wake up from a dream
And in that dream of you I kissed your face
But it slipped through my hand and into my heart
And it's found a way to stay

GROWING ANGER, THIS GROWING SIN, THIS BLOODLUST
AND THIS HEART IS BUT A THIN METAL CAGE, IS BUT RUST
I've found a way to smile when the timing's right
But is it good enough?

It's NOT because I went to bed too late
It's NOT because my breath is the color of fire
I'm bleeding from the back of my eyes and into my heart's desire.
