You Went Away

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Jun 8, 2015

May -- dressed in bluebells,
its soft green dress
embroidered with sunlight --
came barefooted last week.

Memories can be
empty hallways
walked on by I alone
again and again,
as if it was trying
to fill the void,
the emptiness
that was left in my heart
when you went away.

What a perfectly written little poem. Sad, but lovely at the same time. Especially the first stanza.

Dashiel, your words always seem to flow from your mind onto the page so smoothly, I love this though and think it is one of your better short writes. The first stanza is wonderful.

I loved how you describe may here, it echoes senitments and you make may out to be like a person that you knew or maybe just a personality, BUT The imagery you used here was outstanding. The imagery here you can see clearly. May seems to be a girl or women wearing a green dress and barefoot, which tells me there is freedom that comes along with this, either the freedom of life or death.

The last stanza you seem to write about the feelings you have inside of yourself. It is always disheartening to lose someone and walk the path you must walk or feel you must walk in life alone. Anywho I love how different of a poem this is for you, your true feelings came out. 5/5

This poem sounds like its written about a person, it also can refer to the month of May and you have given it character and attached your feelings to it...soft and tender.
