Home-sick Heart

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 12, 2015

If this life is only temporary,
then tell me please,
why must I stay so long?

Maybe my heart knows it isn't really home,
and thus has become home-sick
within this temporary world
which has caused it so much pain.

Maybe my heart is not broken,
it is simply dying to go home.

Wow Saffie, a very sad and moving piece here. The idea in the first stanza of using the words 'temporary' and 'long' together is very affective. We don't normally associate the two with each other - especially not as far as our time on Earth is concerned.
And those final two lines - a strange kind of hope in the misery.
The more I read this piece, the cleverer it gets. Well done and all the very best,
    Ben.

Oh hon, there is so much sadness that exists within a human heart, it is a part of life that sadly can end in tragedy. I love how you made this seem like a point of view poem, yet you are the owner of the heart you are speaking about, but that is what I love about this poem. Your heart is homesick for the love that wants to be inside it, but instead of love there is so much going on. Everything is temporary and that is the point I think you were trying to make here, Love and every single emotion is temporary, but yet it still seems to always come back one way or another. And every emotion has a dark and light side to it, doesn't it. we just have to go with the flow and live with what is given to us. 5/5
