Remembering And Forgetting

Remembering creates a battle with forgetting,
leaving my mind stuck in reverse either way.

I know sometimes I have to let go
of people who died in our past,
because it prevents us from seeking our future,
but I was too young to know how to grieve
for something I never really had.

I tried to pretend that losing you
in the womb of winter was better for us both,
but my mind wouldn't admit
what my heart felt deep inside...

... that every day you grew bigger inside of me,
the more I wanted to meet you.

And remembering you always battles with forgetting you,
leaving me with the torture of knowing
that I never truly had you.

    Its the journey of letting go, and not letting go. The worst thing someone can go through is this, reminding yourself to forget but then remembering what you have lost in the process. It is such a heartfelt piece Saff...

    Wow Saffie;

    This poem speaks volumes of how much losing something (or in this case someone) can affect how we feel. As humans we can never easily let go of what our memories remind of us, the past is an ambiguous thing and it haunts us until the day we pass away, and in that time we grow from pain and experience. I think a lot of people can relate to this poem as well because a lot of people have lost a child or even just someone close to them. This is another poem that does well to say what you exactly mean and the sadness conveys the message well. This is flawless and I would nominate if I could. 5/5
