Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time I was a small child,
Who radiated sunshine and always smiled.
I ran around the playground laughing,
I was a chatter box and never stopped talking!

Once upon a time I was a cheeky girl with a goofy grin,
I was warm and happier than I ever had been.
I enjoyed playing pretend with dolls and cars,
I use to be a little girl whose wrists were free of scars.

Once upon a time I didn't mind the reflection I saw in the mirror,
I didn't hate what I saw, and didn't wish it was unclearer.
There was a time where I didn't have to watch what I eat,
I didn't have to avoid sweets or meat.

Once upon a time I use to go to bed happy,
I didn't want to disappear or to cease existing.
The darkness wasn't a source of comfort,
I actually use to sleep peacefully under the covers.

Once upon a time I was a social butterfly and had many friends,
I use to have fun and I use to be one of them.
I use to giggle and smile all time,
There wasn't a time where I didn't feel fine.

Once upon a time I never felt alone,
I was surrounded by loved ones and never had to be on my own.
I didn't have to bottle up emotions behind a mask,
There was once a time where surviving wasn't such a task.
