Beyond the Solstice

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 13, 2015

Mid July summer is sad

less than half left
then leaves are brown
the trees stripped bare

and hopes shredded of

island beaches

mountain climbs

long cricket nights

before the demands
of hoarding for winter
swallows all time.

Starting by the Tip of this poem, the title was very tempting and eye-catchy, not many are working on their title choices in the past period of time, and this has been a catcher. As for the content, other than its classy tone of poetry and depth, this poem unfolds the writers emotions infront of the reader in a tight manner leaving the reader uncertain how this piece will end.

I am very fond of the word choice and wording, as well as the coherence in its general structure.

A touching poem with a beautiful imagination. It's very beautiful to see how nature can connect to humans and move their emotions and thoughts.

    Really a very beautiful poem.

I'm not sure how summer feels or how winter is, I like that you went far to paint a picture of mid july and what really to expect. Thank you.

I suppose you must not have much of seasonal change in Ethiopia. My wife comes from Nicaragua which is also in the tropics; they have two seasons: rainy and less rainy.

Yes, Larry, I really can relate to this. My thoughts exactly. Wonderfully written.
