I'm ugly

by Someone Invisible   Jul 18, 2015

People get mad at me when I call myself ugly
"dude you are pretty, what do you mean?"
I'm ugly in a way you could see better if you were blind.
I'm ugly in vile ways that really aren't easily seen.
Because I know the scars that I have on my body by heart
And I know they pale in comparison to others out there
But still I throw parties of pity for myself
And I complain on how its just not freaking fair...
I joke on how I'm a joker look a like but...
People when I say, ugly, I'm talking about inside
Where everything is dark and dank and foul
Where I keep a child locked up, chained up while she cries.
When I say my scars are hideous I don't mean my face
I mean those on my arms, my legs, Jesus my hips
I mean the ones placed on my broken, jagged soul
I mean the ones caused from words that fall from my lips.
I have scars lying on more than just my own skin
I'm the monster we're all scared of as a young kid
I hurt others, I hurt them as another way to hurt myself
And no ones knows the depth of the negativity I hid
So when I say I'm a pathetically ugly girl
Please believe me when I say you don't know the half of it
Know I try so hard to be pretty and good
I'm trying so hard with positivity, I'm trying to quit...

As many would agree, I'll be the one to disagree and prove to you, that no matter how many scars you have, the beauty of a soul is not by how stainless or blemish it maybe but the warm it radiates, the hope you give others. That simple smile you share with strange. . that is what makes beauty. What changes the perception of how the world sees you.
With all those scars inside, you might think of yourself as ugly, but many might disagree, for in every painting, people judge it by their own taste. So, when you think you ugly... I would personally think of you as the most beautiful soul I have seen among others (if I could meet you) that is.
The beauty is born from within.... don't judge your nature, atleast try and learn to appreciate it, maybe what you consider as ugly is your nickname for beauty.

Nicely penned poem. I like it... the fact that you have tried to show the reason you are ugly makes it self explanatory.

    I enjoyed reading.
