Last Slow Dance

Last Slow Dance

Before you go your way and I go mine,
let us share a slow dance, one last time.
Your arms around my waist.
My head resting on yours.
As I close my eyes, I can feel our spin.
...I wish we could spin to eternity
I look down at the only two stars I need
to light my night sky.
This close, my pulse pounds in resounding rapture.
If, to have this moment again, no matter how brief,
I had to find a grain of rice in the desert,
I would search until my bones mix with the very sands themselves.
You are the rarest among rarities.
Though we are never meant to be,
tonight, this night, let our souls meld, merge into one
So that I may see this world as angels do.
Oh, to keep you in my arms is but a fleeting dream...
Let me sleep forever.
This song is done yet music plays in my heart still.
Now as you go your way, I will go mine
But this dance, our dance, will be forever etched in time.

You say you seek to evoke clear images with your poetry: you have succeeded.

This is just so beautiful and sad. The imagery is superb and I love the flow, I can almost her the music and see the dance. Poignant and bittersweet I love it. :)

If my words are enough to elicit images of it in your head, then I've accomplished what I set out to do.
I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Thank you.

"I would search until my bones mix with the very sands themselves" - what a wonderfully written poem and I love that line.

Thank you very much. I was just reading one of yours before I posted this. "I Am A Living Tempest". I really enjoyed it. It was magnificent.
