A Heart Without A Smile

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 15, 2015

A heart without a smile,
as cold as steel,
chained by control
and scarred by words
that never heal.

The crimes of my heart
keep everyone locked on the outside,
even though it means
the demons remain trapped inside.

A heart without a smile,
like a ship beneath the waves,
and it's running out of time to be saved
before it vanishes without a trace.

I love the simile "like a ship beneath the waves.....".
And the whole idea of likening a heart to cold and chained steel, which is so in contrast to what we think of our hearts (warm, full of life, love etc) is very affective here.
    Another great write Saffie!
