Another day in Paradise...(senyru)

From a park bench he
yawns and stand in Harrod's brogues.
Both toes poke right through.

I think talent is really displayed in this piece because with a senryu being so short, it takes a lot of thought to either make a declarative statement, something very catchy, or try and put one small short story into the three lines, and thats what you've done. I love Senryu's, I use to write them a lot. This kind of inspired me to bust a few out.

Its amazing how you can describe a lot that is going on in this mans life with just three short lines.
I got that he is homeless, just waking up on a bench. I can't imagine the tissues I would need if you went into further detail. I'm glad this was three lines lol.

    Hi Michael,

This reminds me of that one song by Phil Collins, I think the title was the same as this?

Very sad poem, and very descriptive for so few words. You can see this man in your mind's eye...one a respectable rich man who bought his clothes at Harrod's ( I have been there, by the way, loved the staircases in Egyptian style!!) and now a beggar on the streets.
The twist is well pulled off in this one, that is for sure, it shows a very different light on the first two lines, because you now realise the bench was his bed for the night!

    (((hugs)))

Wonderful again Michael - but nice to think that even those fallen on the hardest times can still live the highlife....even if their toes poke through!
    All the best,
    Ben.
ps. I do see what you mean more and more by that sneaky 4th line; I will perfect it yet!
