Black Secrets

I felt so alone
as I carried my secret past behind my smile.
I lived inside the darkness
because it became my safe place through the years.

I thought sharing the secret with you
would let me escape from the blackness,
but I guess that was too much to ask.

Sharing the secret -
I guess it reveals you,
exposing every layer inside of you,
and I'm sorry I wasn't good enough for you.

I have returned to the darkness,
where I shall spend eternity,
but don't feel bad for me,
for this is my only shelter.
