I no longer ask...

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 29, 2015

Is it time for my soul to finally leave
For I received worthy counsel yet never a kiss
How deep can a human possibly grieve
Without drowning in his own imagined abyss.

What darkness would you begin to see
When strident memories poison your mind
How often would you dare to miss me
Yet it was never solely you, but I who I confined

My heart collides with my unsound knees
A body disintegrated, a genuine love departed
Surely another galaxy will bury all the debris
For how could our prayers be left uncharted

You touched my dreams, I never meant to enslave
Vulnerability stirred us yet the world would disagree
You believe I'll overcome but I still envision my grave
I'll never blame you - I was destined as love's refugee.

Very rarely do I rhyme but wanted to try it for this poem.
