THEY SAY

by Tarah   Dec 17, 2015

They say that problems come 1-2-3
Not when it is concerning me

Swarms of clouds, rain and thunder galore
My problems always seem like so much more!

They say to take the road less traveled
I chose the wrong one
Watched my life unravel

Its love, and men that cause such grief
Scar my mind, my heart, my hands and feet

It is I that allow such pain in my life
When will I learn to stand and fight?

With one man here, and one man there
I should have known my mends would tear

They say you can't have your cake, and eat it too
You would think by now Id catch a clue

To walk away with my head held high
Instead I set myself up to cry

Used by one and played by the other
Deep down I knew they both were trouble

Ignore the signs, my family, my friends
Everybody knew how this all would end

Left to think, and hope and prey
That all this nonsense will be done one day

At the age of 30 its time to grow
Not just my heart but also my sole

I hope by now my lesson is learned
To be patient, and kind, and wait my turn

They say nothing good comes right away
They say good things come to those who wait

Tarah, a great write from you with a deep message that we should just live our lives and if love comes to us then let it because usually you'll get played or used. You have got to remember to take the rough with the smooth and though there are times you want to give up on love, don't because someone, somewhere will be searching for you too.

    Take care, Em

There's a sadness felt in this piece. But there's also a message that says to keep going, to learn from mistakes and this time learn to be patience.

Thanks for the read. Welcome to poems and quotes.

    Hello Tarah,

Welcome to P&Q. It's always nice to see new members.

This poem has good flow and rhyme and a message to others. Sometimes the most important lessons are learned the hard way.

    Well, done and take care.
