Ignoring Urges

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 30, 2016

The urge to believe in your book of lies
is powerfully controlling my torn heart.

Who is she, this stranger beside me
who once used to take my pain away?

Don't you know how much I died inside
when you let me go?

But I have to push the urge to forgive you
to the back of my mind, which is easier than I thought,
because I can't ignore the true colours I now see,
and the true lies that I now hear.

Your mysterious ways with words
left a woman weeping in despair,
and that flooded every wish we ever made
into the ocean of the permanent past.
