Illusion of Us

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 18, 2016

How do I trust the illusion of us,
with these emotions so near
to the fire of disruption?

You keep enclosing me in your shadow,
beyond your empty promises
which used to mean something,
but now everything has changed.

I was trying to make it last
but I almost died choking
on your unforgivable words.

I am burying the promises
in the locker of pain,
and don't try to press rewind,
for I am not saving one more second chance
on a love that you left in flames!

    Hello Saffie

A nice, tightly structured poem here with some great lines. I particularly like the third stanza.
    Well written. Stay well,
    Ben
