The Last Ship

by cassie hughes   Apr 13, 2016

The journey continues,
although not for me.
I must stand on this shore
and watch you sail away.
If I could have one moment
more wrapped in your love
I would wish it forever
should last, but it can't.

The sand in your timer
Has all but run through.
Once a bright golden stream
I can see each grain now
as it tumbles away through
this hole in my heart,
leaving me left behind,
all alone in the dark.

For my sun has gone dow.,
Not a ray can I see
of the light that you brought
into being with me.
As your ship lifts its sails
to the zephyrs caress,
I can only hold on to
the pain that is left.

Wow! I like this wonderful post. What a great peaceful poem.
It just feels like as you are losing your true love and can only watch him going all the way far towards the different domain.
This is nice written and the last line tells all.
    Great work!
