Bliss

This long winding road known as life...
I've grown enough of it.
Pain. Guilt. Loss. Misery.
All of these negative feelings
Finding sanctuary in the madness and turmoil
Known as my soul, turning what once was
A normal, sane person
Into a being whose mind is so warped
With the worst this unfortunate rock
We call a planet can give us that
He feels the need to end it all.
And all this time just sitting right at the corner,
Whose metal sheen was just yearning to
Rip into flesh and render it in two, was the knife.
So I took that knife one day
And plunged it deep into my chest.
That first instant of pain
Was quickly replaced by the euphoric,
Numbing feeling I'd been searching for.
As my eyes grew heavy, and were closing
For what appeared to be the last time,
I couldn't help but faintly smile and think,
"This unbearable weight of humanity
Crashing down on my shoulders
Is finally ending.
This must be...what happiness is.
This must...be...bliss."
