I'm Sorry for your Loss

by Maple Tree   May 19, 2016

I was not entirely sure
Of the circumstances
Following the death
Of his soul,

But I whispered softly
To his widow,
My condolences.

I was within a cloud that day-

Smells of sweaty perfume,
Lathered soap
And whiskey
Weighed heavy
Upon my weepy nose
And I was confused as to
Why I was near his coffin.

I thought I was familiar
With his widow-
she was built the
Same as I and her outfit
Was an accordion style,
Chiffon dress; quite classy.

However-

The tissues covered her face.

The funeral director began to speak

Mrs. I'm sorry for your loss,
Placed his hand upon my shoulder
as I began to weep....

Waking up with this nightmare
Is never good,
Bring on the coffee.
