Silent Sparrow

Silent Sparrow

Silent on the cold, stony sidewalk,
Silent on the hard, cold, floor,
Lays a little sparrow
Who will sing nevermore..

Do you see the once beautiful feather?
Feathers, once golden brown...
Laying down to weather
They will soar, nevermore...

The sparrow once had the spirit of a hawk
Yet, slowly, quickly, it started to die
Laying there, paralyzed, needing help,
Inside, it started to cry, knowing it will rise nevermore

Do you see all these people, too obsessed with wealth?
Do you see the sparrow, needing some serious help?
For the bird that needs to be nursed back to health...
No one seems to care about you, anymore...

Fading
Disappearing
Forgetting
No Remembering

Somewhere, up there,
There was a place the Sparrow could soar
A beautiful place, lush and green,
Where it could soar, forevermore.

The Sparrow is now free and happy
Yet, every man now will still ignore
Sadly, surely, still,
The Sparrow who will soar forevermore~

This is an interesting poem and I suppose the idea could be applied to numerous scenarios in life. Those in positions of wealth and power who don't struggle day-to-day often ignore the 'sparrows underfoot'.

    Well done on this,

An interesting twist you threw in there at the end; I thought it was an enjoyable read!
