Clinging To Paper Promises

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 9, 2016

She clung onto the piece of paper
that was signed with promises by you.
She thought if she could touch it,
she could feel your words were still true -
but it's just one more lie
which lives inside a box of cards
that used to mean everything to her.

She still picks up her pen for you,
trying to write through the tears,
trying desperately to reach you -
but you still never hear her cries.

Months have gone by,
and I realise it is now too late
to get back what has gone.

I am done thinking
that you ever cared about me at all,
and I accept you will never be back.
