Something Borrowed, Something Gone

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 23, 2016

I don't want to say goodbye all over again,
so I keep this silence alive instead of making conversation.

I'm trying to understand if your love
was just something borrowed,
and the time has now come to watch you snatch it back.

Leaving me trying to understand
why you don't want to love me any more.

I am envious of your ability to just get up and go.
I used to have a stronger heart
but then I changed it into something fragile
which can be so easily snapped.

"Perhaps if I could be more like her."
is what I keep telling myself,
hoping I will find a way to get you back,
but no matter how hard I try to cling on,
the truth of the matter remains.

You had the chance to stay
and save what we used to have,
but you let it slip by
the day you vanished from my life.

Leaving me trying to understand
why you don't want to love me any more.
