Our Last Conversation

by Maple Tree   Dec 15, 2016

Her voice was sounding like an ocean.

Fluid was starting to fill her lungs,
she said I love you more times than
I could count;

yet I still was unaware
that would be our last conversation.

She whispered "I'm tired"

and yet I was clueless
to what would happen two
days later.

She was One Hundred years old
but a granddaughter will never
accept that her Gram can't live
forever....

I wish I would have known;

I would have said "I love you"
until she whispered goodbye.
