Losing You Was My Biggest Fear

by shannon   May 21, 2005

There I would lay in your arms
How I would feel safe, free and away from harm

You’d look in my eyes
And see all my fake smiles and lies

You’d see all the pain that I felt
And all the heartache that I’ve been dealt

You’d lay your lips upon mine
And for that one moment, I would be fine

Moments like those seemed to erase my past
And I wished that it would forever last

You were what kept me strong
But that would not last for long

I took your hand
And I told you I did not understand

Understand why things had to be this way
And why down here with me, you couldn’t stay

I gave you one last kiss
And your sweet skin that I would so dearly miss

Softly I whispered in your ear
That losing you was always my biggest fear

Slowly they lowered you down
To have your casket, in the ground

I don't feel that this was one of your better poems. However the emotion behind the words compensate for this.
