Sad Eyes

by Symera   Jul 30, 2005

Why is this girl staring at me
with eyes so sad begging and pleading?
I mean how can I help her?
I'm only one me.

Yet I can't resist.
Those puppy dog eyes.
Life has let her down.
But I'll stop it this time.

I know what she really wants,
a great release.
From her stress, her life,
her everything.

But I have my own reservations.
What will happen to me?
When this girl is long gone
and problem free.

When she's gone
what will become of me?
Since I depend on her
and her on me.

As I reach to touch her hand
the cold barrier disapproves.
I know she's disappointed
as she mimics my every move.

I'm confused
Though she's determined.
We fuse together as we move as one
reaching for the bottle. The time has come.

Pill by pill I let her take.
I won't stop her as she starts to cry.
Could this be a mistake?
I just want to help those sad eyes.

For I am her.
And she is me.
So when she's gone
no longer will I be.

I'm her reflection
her heart, her mind,
her everything.
I'm what brings us to this sad ending.

I'm begging.
I'm pleading.
Committing my own crime.
The sad eyes in the mirror,
are no one's but mine.

That was very cleverly written. I really loved this:

I know what she really wants,
    a great release.
    From her stress, her life,
    her everything.

it caught my eye and it just flowed so nicely. I've seen a lot of poems written about something similar and I have one similar but this just takes the cake. I don't know, it just seemed to flow and to me that is SOOOOOOOOOO important. Well done!!!!
