Cradle of Life

by Andrew Packard   Feb 21, 2013

"Cradle of Life"

Immaculate Conception,
Plastered deep within.
Biological mutation,
disturbed grin.

Once mundane,
Ordinary life.
Licentious abstain,
nobody's wife.

Now bulbous belly,
Bloated Flooding womb.
Churning and sickly,
It's coming soon ...

The Gate opens,
Deluge bursts forth.
Amniotic fluid,
Screaming gaped mouth.

Now bulbous belly,
Relief in the room.
Song of beauty,
Bloated Flooding womb.

I knew this was yours, when I first read it during the voting. Now, I can't vote for you anymore because I'll be biased, lol. This is a very vivid and beautiful story of one of the greatest moments in life, and I could clearly see this in my mind's eye. Great work, Andrew

If you haven't noticed, I'm out to win these stupid challenges! This one for example we were to pick a body part, so I thought, I'm not picking no ordinary body part, I'm picking something off the wall, a little outrageous. Started thinking veins, reds blood cells, hormones. Something sexual, I got it! THE WOMB! And with the target audience maybe I can swing some of them women voters!
And of course I have to name it after one of my favorite movies; Tomb Raider 2.
The flooding life giving womb didn't get me my first win, so sad. Yeah, but the womb is creepy, lota horror movies based on it. Also I'm reading "We Need To Talk About Kevin" right now, so that had an influence. I ended it on an up note rather than go the horror route, again trying to get the female vote. But these challenges have brought out some really good poems in me.
Like the one where we rewrote song lyrics, there were only two sent in, I thought great, I got a 50/50 chance! Turns out she wouldn't let it go to a vote. Maybe the other poem was hers. I'm rambling!
I just feel sorry for us men who get a bulbous belly and look pregnant! haha
