Indepedence Day

by Michael D Nalley   Jul 4, 2013

The tea went in the sea
It started with a Big Bang
Brave men longed to be free
long before the bell rang

The war took its toll
though battles were won
Liberty was the goal
of almost everyone

In order to form a perfect union
The preamble was written
as they offered a communion
before the soldiers were smitten

Ideals stood firm in the revolution,
some have been lost along the way,
as democracy is another evolution.
Nothing's louder than Independence Day

This is really a great tribute to America, and has all the truths to it. I really appreciated this poem! One note, your title is still wrong, another "N" is missing :)

Wonderful write that captured the history and spirit of America's strive toward that liberty, through the events and overall thinking to establish a democracy. Very simple rhyme that made the piece flow beautifully.

    Great tribute!

Sadly, to obtain democracy many lives get lost along the way but when fighting for what is right and freedom, it's worth remembering and celebrating.
About the title is it supposed to be Idependence day? or may be it was a typo.

    Good poem.
