A break in the winter

by Timothy   Jan 20, 2016

A surprise for certain, for this aging man,
But I am happy and content, as I hold your tiny hand;
Four children now, the eldest is twenty-one,
For some of my classmates, life is already over, but I feel we have just begun.

What greater renewal, than to have that baby scent?
As if a fresh bouquet, this house has new enlightenment;
The cold had been bogging us down, and the snow was turning me gray,
But there has been a break in the winter, sunshine to brighten my day.

    This piece brought a smile to my face. There is nothing like a baby to change your world.
    Turning a grey sunless day into one filled with sunshine is wonderful!
    Really nice job on this piece.
    Take care
