Cause For Celebration

by Unknown   Feb 6, 2008

I found this speech, not poem. It is something I said, but not for this site. Reading this will reveal the only personal information there is to be revealed about me.

I am, or was, 18 at one stage. This is the speech for my 18th (said on the spot on camera, I've just written it down for the first time).

"Thanks for coming, everyone. I was bloody scared that this party wasn't going to live up to what people expected, but so far, it's been great. I was stressing about the music, the set-up, all of that. All that matters though is who is here, because without you, there is no party. I just... just thanks for coming, it's been great. I wanted this party to be a celebration, not an excuse to get drunk. It has been a bit of both, but more so a celebration. And I couldn't be happier, because I couldn't celebrate my 18th with anyone better, because you are the one's that have influenced my life the most. My family, my friends. I reckon the people in your life define who you are and make life what it is, and the last 18 years, well, they've been tough from time to time. But whenever I'm with my mates, I realise my life, well... it's bloody good. That says a lot for all of you. Thanks for coming, have a few drinks, dance, and have a bloody good night."
