#13 does not belong here. It is a copyrighted poem titled Daddy's Day that was written by Cheryl Costello-Forshey long before 9/11. In 2000, the original poem was published in "Chicken Soup for the Parent's Soul." In 2001, it was published again in the book "Stories for a Teen's Heart #2."

After 9/11 someone stole this poem, altered it with the addition of a few lines pertaining to 9/11 and then circulated it all over the internet. Someone shamefully used the sorrow of a national tragedy as an occasion to steal an author's copyrighted work.

I don't know anyone, and no one knows me. I don't like the idea of awards because there are many talented newcomers (who in my opinion are much more talented than quite a few of the oldies), though because they're new, they don't get recognized here. this is stupid.

Scarlette... that's how awards work.

I'm new and think it's a great idea as opinion can now lead me to the established poets for me to read and enjoy.

Any talented people will be recognised in time, patience is a virtue for a reason.

Bret, thanks for bringing up another point. You believe that those listed here are established - that may be true, (though it also may only be based on nepatism) but only on THIS site. Like I said, I've come across many wonderful poems on here written by those who aren't even listed on anyone's list so far (who don't ever post on this forum).

I know that's how awards work. That's why I don't like awards in general.
