Heart On Your Hipbone.

by Prophecies In Kodak   Apr 4, 2008

-like a song, yeah? this title has a meaning, it isnt just made up. dear, i love you.-

there is nothing more than i would want to do
than take you into the palms of my hands
and whisper you about all thing so special
as a glimpse i have given you of who it is i am.
while i sit telling you scattered stories like
how my father once told me as his son
if i looked inside all the right places i'd see
of all the ways that true love could be won.
so while i sat with my age on my fingers
he told me one day beauty would appear
and he put those five fingers back down,
told me "you best save her from her fears."

so i will save you, make you all you want to be
i will carry you with me, shape you like clay.
i will save you, take you where you should be.
so i will save you and i will steal you away.

it doesnt take much to see you as a mother,
sitting down the same and telling your little girl
about how sometimes i call you ocean eyes
and about how we struggled through this world.
and i know you'll tell her all the right ways
telling her that one day she will find her strength.
with beautiful brown hair in gold ribbons you'd state,
"and when you've found him, you must say,"

"so i will save you, make you all you want to be
i will carry you with me, shape you like clay.
i will save you, take you where you should be.
so i will save you and i will steal you away."

now this is the kind of air that cures the moment,
i'd like to think that you could be so close to me.
and maybe it was just the type of season but
how far away can the shore lie away from the sea?

It's been a long time since I've read any poems and I know that when I want to read a great one to come look at yours.

I really like the section where you describe what they will tell the daughter. I like that part where you talk about "ocean eyes" that really made me fish for colors in my head. That's one thing I really like about your poems they all make you think visually and see the stuff that are being described. So nice job!!
