She shot the man dead
but being a good father
makes me a bad man.

I loved this when I read it back then so I'm glad you reposted.
Title initially makes you wonder what you won't be telling the police and why? But as ever without even reading on I know we will find out the answer 1 as it's you (lol) and 2 because of the form.
The first line here explains what you will not be telling the police but not why you won't be telling the police as surely if you witnessed someone had shot someone else then you would? It also doesn't state why this lady had shit this gentleman.. Anger, hatred, revenge or just because??
Then line 2 here states that this lady is infact your daughter which is no doubt why you won't be telling the police and would probably take the flack for her thus protecting her, your own flesh and blood.
Line 3 reiterates the point that you will not tell the police on your daughter with saying it'll make you a 'bad man' I know this isn't true but I also know because of the caring nature you have for your children that you would also do anything to protect them but would you go this far?
    All the best

Spot on, Em. I don't know, but I expect most fathers would make the same decision.

Living with the guilt of not doing the right thing, but knowing that he has protected his daughter which perhaps was the only decision he could really take.
