Mythos

by Tony   May 14, 2018

My mind is reeling, knees are weak,
At last I've found that which I seek
It's all I could have hoped and more:
A tattered tome... forgotten lore

Ancient writings, forbidden rites
Shakily scrawled by candle light
Outlines acts both dark and disturbed
That cannot be described by words

Runes and rubbings fill these pages
They have survived countless ages
Long predating the time of man
Before the race could even stand

These images burned in my mind
To sanity I've become blind
To understand what these rites take
First the human mind must break

I hear the whispers and the cries
I feel The Watchers' prying eyes
My purpose is to bring them here
Through the fog and through the fear

They live where only nightmares do
Where fear and dread are one with gloom
I take my leave I take my blade
"For US to come... make them unmade"

I am so freaking.. I don't even know the word.. Thrilled? Pleased? Breathless? That THIS was written after my poem inspired you! Oh my goodness. The poem in general is so beautiful, dark.. reminding me of some of the most beautiful things in the world being part of the darker outskirts of the universe. My goodness, I am blown away completely!! I have been away from my computer for about a week but THIS was so amazing to read!!

I'm a sucker for fantasy and sci-fi, and the forgotten lore spin of what you wrote sucked me in lol. Seriously though, pick up a pen and get back to writing!

She wrote "Forget about the lore" which got my brain spiraling down a dark hole with forgotten lore.

Careful, Tony, for I believe you may be in danger of developing that OCT disease we have previously discussed, lol.

Take care and well done on this,

What can I say? That eight count just sounds so pleasing to my ear! I intentionally broke the count with "first the human mind must break"
