Love this, Ben, as I am nodding my head that it's often so true. I also feel like we're always saying this, because tragedy strikes again and again, there's always something to mourn or feel helpless toward, and we don't know what to do to heal the wounds or address the darkness. Sometimes, it seems better to keep to ourselves and shut out what we see. I wonder too if we do that to protect ourselves or "recharge our batteries". Or if we have the ability others don't to only focus on what directly affects us.
