Andrea, My Darling

by Ben Pickard   Jan 8, 2019

Maple, my darling, Maple my tree,
Come to my bedroom and whisper to me.
Whisper sweet nothings and whisper your thoughts
And then I will tell of the feelings I've fought -
I've tried to repress them, - ignore what you do -
Your hair, and your eyes, your wit and your bo...

Forgive me, I beg you, but understand this:
My heart and the truth are too long amiss.
How can I live when I know there is one
Whose moon shines upon her when I see the sun?

The ocean that separates all that we share
Is ghastly and tainted and bloody unfair -
It writhes and it seethes and it keeps you from me
But nothing will stop me, not even the sea.

I see you at night and when I awake,
I see you in rivers, in mountains and lakes.
Reflections that haunt, and odes we have read,
Are dreams that I dream of you in my bed.

Oh Maple - Andrea - whatever you like
(we know what I call you into the night)
I want you to know, no matter the years -
No matter the torture, no matter the tears -
That ever I love you, that always I'm here,
If you be afar or if you are near.

So come to me, darling - away we will run -
Burning so bright, we embarrass the sun.

Andrea and I had a little joke (I should make that clear)!

This is beautiful and eloquently written. After reading the comments as well, you and Mr. Darcy need to write the next Shakespeare novel haha. Definitely made my day.

Hey Ben, a harem is nice, my wife could use the help!
Sorry to burst your balloon, but with the heart, only one woman can fill the room, ask Solomon.
