We Try Such Silly Things (Lira)

by Ben Pickard   May 16, 2019

In betwixt the candle shine,
There lies a sad place between light and nowhere.
Roses flourish by design -
Flames and flowers make life fair,
But flames don't, and flowers don't, between them care.

    Dude this was enchanting... the fact you used roses and candlelight made this so Spanish along with the form I have to admit I've seen them bit I believe I've never wrote one ... this just shows your artistic talent and imagination to think of things outside the box .. lovely piece

    Hey Ben, very Artistic, and, Masterful! As I read, these thoughts entered my head: I see the mysteries of God, the infinite gap between light, and, darkness, as written;
    There lies a sad place between light and nowhere, great line. Roses by design, this requires a "Designer!". Though flames don't, and flowers don't, between them care, yes, the whole Creation declares the Glory of God, but, care arrived in Him becoming one of us! Great piece, added to my favorites!

    I dont know what this form is, but it is so interesting I want to try it!!
    “a sad place between light and nowhere.”
    My favorite part is this, it sets my mind to dark places.
    I love this!

      It was fun to try, but the uneven number syllable count isn't easy for a man who dreams in iambic pentameter!
