The Clearing (Haiku Chain)

by Violet Raven   May 4, 2020

Gentle winds tangle
treetops together causing
rainbow leaves to rain

down upon wooded
paths covering two footprints
washed by morning dew

whilst sunshine sleeps in
late creating a perfect
tranquility when

soft hums of flowing
rivers snake down rock ravines
where the clearing lies.

This chain of poems feels like meditating. The images are so vivid, the imagery is spot on. It's splendid. How you described the whole scene, how the leaves fell upon the ground covering the prints of a path two have taken, it feels forlorn and yet peaceful at the same time. It's so inspiring and touching. The last stanza stood out differently, while the initial verses felt more like narrative, the last one felt like a real closing phrase to the above. Where the clearing lies! It's just stunning to wrap it all this way. An amazing poem honestly.
