The World Beneath

by Mimi   Sep 26, 2020

It's been so long
Since I've felt human
When did living
Become a sin?
Can you see me?
Am I even here?
I can't seem to find
The things I once kept dear
So here I am, living
But not really alive
I'm finally ready
To take the dive
I'm done struggling
To keep my head above the water
Let me sink
I'm not the perfect daughter
Maybe I'll find
A whole world beneath
A world full of people
Who forgot how to breathe
I'd fit in there
I'd no longer stick out
They'd all understand me
I wouldn't have to shout
The people there
Have felt pain
And they don't use others
For their own personal gain
They are all broken
And they understand
Just what it's like
To be drowning on land
They wouldn't judge me
They'd welcome me in
And they have scars
That match those on my skin
I'd rather live in
The world down below
Where everyone fits in
And we're all part of the show

I can relate to your words here - know that many of us have felt pain just like you and together, we can still stand. Keep writing!

I was your age when I started writing poetry, since then its been the only way I could express myself. And since I started posting here in P&Q like nine years ago, I don’t think I’ve ever been judged.
You can start from here, I know you may not get so many comments but I assure you, your words are being read.
I hope writing poetry helps you, like it helped me^_^

Thank you so much. That means a lot to me. I live every day with a mask on my face, and poetry is the only way I can express who I am underneath the mask.
