Acceptance

by Violet Raven   Oct 2, 2020

Even though we dance
across broken floorboards our
hips sway together

with skirts sashaying
around two intertwined hearts
when acceptance makes

goosebumps bubble on
flabby arms that wrap around
your skeletal frame

that floats swimmingly
when kisses occur
with loving embrace.

Lovely. The opening up of someone, resolved at last to be the person they want - or need - to be, and finding that long-sought-for love and companionship from another who, not just accepts, but perhaps understands too.
I suppose the 'broken floorboards' and 'flabby arms' lines suggest there is still a certain amount of haunting from a miserable past and confidence that is lacking in at least one of these two protagonists, but that is nothing a little time and dancing in skirts won't cure.

    Excellent work.

Not the type of comments that you appreciate but it's always a loss of words when reading your poems. I just wanted you to know I read this and had no idea how to respond to it! I love your work.
