Forest Nights

by Lost star   Oct 12, 2020

My
humbled
soul
rests
watching the fire light
dance across the tree bark,
dark emerald leaves gently
whisper among themselves and
hush in stillness,
as stars lay silent
yet speak of ages past.

The subdued pop, of burning coals
almost sing a lullaby;
my back against the fallen log,
coffee cradled in my hands,
forest
nights
implore
my writers spirit to scribe
poetic aura’s that ignite
imaginations into life,
like ethereal fabric quilting
the eyes of vagabonds
to inspire discovery of their muse,
emotions surface exorbitant
metaphor to bind souls of
men to earths spirit.

My humbled soul rests,
as stars lay silent,
forest nights implore
men to earths spirit.

I have to say, this is up there with the very best free verse I have ever read; it is simply exquisite. Also, I relate entirely.
