Innocence of youth

by Violet Raven   Nov 17, 2020

Pine trees grow at
pine creek elementary
school where the sidewalk
ends and observations begin.

Freedom is free from depression
when playing with tonka trucks
on dirt mounds until the moon
shines upon a bike's reflector.

Making friends is easy when
having a repertoire to fall back
upon. New experiences are fun
with the innocence of youth.

Dimples occur when a football
flies across the pitch stopped
by the goaltender in an inane
but fun game full of laughter.

Living on Jack street is missed.

A trip down nostalgia la. This is a refreshing change to the darker poems around at the moment.
The innocence of youth, not being too self-aware and just loving the moment.

Thanks for this. One cannot read this without recalling their own personal 'free-child' moments.

    Take care.
