As you know, I think this is a truly lovely piece. Scrumptious, in fact! |
Haha, thanks Dad! |

When I read this piece, I wished so hard that I could like blackberries as much as in this writing. I even felt a bit jealous lol. I really like the voice and the rhymes in this poem. Thank you for sharing. |
Haha! For me, blackberries are a big part of life :). Thank you! |

I'm glad the prompt word, 'Blackberries' was used by a fellow aficionado. Kiera, your writing ability is astonishing. You describe the adventure of going blackberry picking sound so much fun, which, of course, it is. :) Your use of enjambment worked so well that the rhyme slipped into the background. Nice work! I hope if I ever come to see you and your dad I get offered a slice of this delicious sounding cake. |
Thank you so much! The cake is only on offer if I can get to it before anyone else :) |
It has been so much fun to see the poems inspired by these prompts, and this is no exception! I love the playfulness in this, the simple joy of summer and endless amounts of fresh fruit, feelings of freedom and youth, and the rhymes as well. I am actually the only person in my family who enjoys blackberries - especially in my cereal. We have a family friend who bakes all the time and will drop off jams and pies for us, and I feel like blackberries are severely underrated! |
Thank you! My whole family loves blackberries, including me, so whenever they're growing nearby we go and pick them. We usually make crumble with them or cake. I agree, they are the most underrated fruit! |
