you make everything seem like
it’s bad and planned
and i know how it seems that way
(a lot of the time)
when thoughts run faster than
words and wheels
power lines are sloped on trees
(and you’re so still)
that sometimes you wish you were
d a n c i n g
and you weren’t so

you must know what it feels like
to wake someone up inside
to not be a boring
glossy magazine
where the faces are collaged
(dull and too bright)
what i mean to say is
you’re only
a dream kind of
p e r s o n

you’re too grey
and i like you this way
like missing you when you’re not here
(to be missed)
and kissing you when you’re not here
(to be kissed)

like kissing the back of your hand
when there’s no body there
and it’s a quiet night
and it
makes you feel
13 again

if it weren’t all so complicated
then i would stop addressing letters
to no one
knowing they were
all to you -
because i think you get it best
when it’s unsaid
(and you feel that)
or maybe i just thought about it
too much

and the smile that spreads over
is a quiet smile
that no body sees
but honestly...

it’s the only secret
that’s mine
