New Growth

by Ben Pickard   Mar 10, 2021

She came to life, I went to seed,
By sorrowful and sad degrees,
But with the sun and balmy breeze,
She sheltered me beneath her leaves.

I felt the earth about me shift -
I heard the larks and heard the swifts -
She showed me how to close the rifts
And germinate despite the mists.

To think that I was unaware,
Beneath the sunshine's golden stare,
That branches never need be bare
With nurturing from those that care.

The petals fell as petals do
But with the spring, she dressed anew;
I now grow green where once I grew
Just winter's brown the summer through.

    Ben, beautiful! As spring is around the corner and new growth begins our world starts anew. Also a new relationship or changes in how we think can begin us anew. I really liked this a lot.
