Chasm

by RavenBunny   Oct 20, 2021

I look in the mirror
And what do I see?
A lonely girl,
Always busy.

The circles under her eyes
Show just how tired
She truly is with this world;
She dreams in fire.

Her porcelain cheeks
Are red from anguish
Though no tears have been shed
Today; she dreams of their vanquish.

Each day she walks tall,
But inside she feels so small, so defeated,
Her heart does ache
But she knows her soul has retreated.

She tries with all her might
To keep herself afloat in the ocean
Of struggles - she's too tired;
Beneath her a chasm opens.

She fights her way through her mind
With little reassurance to grasp,
But she manages to keep swimming
This is her one and only task.
