I'll Take What You Can Give.

by Prophecies In Kodak   May 24, 2007

Tonight there's a faint smell of sulfur in the snow flakes,
But that's the way that I've always liked it, you know full well.
Old habits aren't dying hard tonight and you're getting too close
Too close to what makes me feel any ounce of anything real.
That's uncalled for.. unthinkable; a goal that can't be attained
Then victory would then lose it's wonderfully metallic taste.
It's cold, calm and soothing; the cost of comfort is large,
The price will keep sky rocketing in all of the time it takes,
For me to look you in the eyes and tell you..
"This wont be pretty, darling. Here it goes, darling."
Your facial expression are distorted from the smoke
And the last thing I want for you to see is a soldier crying.
Let the melodies see you through the wars right now
While I sport, with pride, the split lips and black eyes.
I'm fighting the war of the ages just to hold your hand tonight
And using the cost of comfort now as a tool for compromise.
I'm giving up all that I can at this moment, for you
And it's developing me a bit of a nasty cough.
There's no two ways about it, but I'm making ends meet;
At the same time deducting drink from my glass to fill yours to the top.
Because, I would rip my heart from my chest for you
And let you drink and toast to the taste of my defeat.
But for tonight, i'll trust you to stand by my side
And we will stand under no man or no higher powers feet.
Please, don't take the taste away from me..
I think that that would be a little too much to handle.
I hope you understand, I've got cold blood running through every vein,
Darling, these situations are getting blown out of proportion with sex, lies, and scandle.
But, we wont let them touch us at all in any shape or form

^^. Classic Ian. And do know, I'm not refering to the simple text; it's the depth that I'm talking about. Though, as I say it out loud, I could also be refering to your style of poetry. Whichever comment floats your boat, then. :]].

Please, don't take the taste away from me..
[[I really loved that line. It fit the poem beautifully.]]

As always, I really liked it.
It didn't really rhyme, but you pulled it off. The flow was still there, the story still clear, and so very sad.

I really enjoyed this piece; I can almost hear you reading it to me on the phone. =]

    Great job. xx
