Dear Tay

There's a little girl whom's five
and looks to have a perfect life
She has her mother and her Father
and her own bed to sleep at night

With covers from Dora The Explorer
and some pillow cases of purple packs
She's got monkeys on her wall borders
and a DVD player of the secret map

She sings the tune backpack, backpack
as she twirls and whirls in her joy
Each leap seeking out radiant bliss
That is found deep within such a toy

She spends alot of her time laughing
Telling jokes that never seem to stop
Like "Whats a pig that knows Karate?"
Spoken with a huge smile "a Porkchop!"

She's a great little girl I must say
Always trying so hard to create smiles
Developing her own unique personality
at a much younger age than I did mine

I'm so proud of her and being her Uncle
that I could never portray it to be true
No matter how many ways I try to express it
I just want you to know, Uncle D loves you...

This morning we got a call from Grandma
She said Daddy overdosed on pills again
Such a tragedy he didn't wake up breathing
But as I'm writing this you don't understand

Mommy hasn't told you yet but she will
as soon as she can get up the words to say
She doesn't want to see your eyes crying
But it's not easy to say daddy's going away

I know he's played a small role in your life
but they want you to know he really did care
After the car crash the two of you were in
He checked into rehab and said a little prayer

He said he wouldn't see you again until later
after he could get off drugs and clear up
And though you didn't hear from him on X-mas
We can only hope those gifts were enough

As you grow up to be an older age in life
I think you'll see that you can only do your best
Bad things happen to the greatest of people
And daughters will live to see their Daddys rest

Whew...it's hard for the heart not to be crumpled by reading this. Real situations bring powerful poetry. A very sad situation for the little girl. But I think she has grown up strong now since this was nine years ago.

    Oh, My Goodness.
I started crying. This poem really touched and called out to me. I am truly happy to know that such a little girl has such a loving and caring Uncle like you. <=]
I hope that if she reads this, she'll be able to understand. You're a strange character when it comes to writing but you're so full of emotion when you write. It blows me away.
This was Wonderful and So full of emotion.
    I Literally Cried.
You've Got a lot of talent. Keep it up.
