Those Velcro Shoes

by Hannah   Mar 8, 2008

One more day of being you,
And another day you have to wear Velcro shoes.
Say hey,
Today is your birthday.
You watched me grow up,
Remember the time you made me that special coffee cup?
You're my grandpa and I'm your grand daughter, who is special to you.
There are many things I wish you knew.
Like the time I stole some money from your jar.
Or that time I accidentally smashed the baseball into your car.
I just blamed that on my brother, but you never knew.
Oh how you watched as I grew,
Into that beautiful young lady you pictured me to be,
On day my boyfriend will get down on his knee and propose to me.
I would like you to meet him and I know you will,
It's your birthday and it's time for you to take your pills.
You blew out the candles and made a wish,
You wished that your wife could blow you one last kiss,
But we know she can't because she's in heaven now,
Where the heavenly angels are special gals.
One more day of being you,
And another day you have to wear Velcro shoes.
