Jessy - a friend I had

by Pratap Rudra   Jan 18, 2015

Jessy was her name
A friend I had so dear
Tiny were her hands and feet
Her eyes so innocent and clear.

Jessy was her name
A friend I had when young
Dancing was her favorite
I played her flute and drum.

Many a stories I told her
Of fairies, fantasies and friends
She listened to me in apt glory
As time wrapped us into one.

Jessy was her name
A friend I had when young
She came in like a birdie
To show me a rainbow spectrum!

Innocence and childhood are rare my friend
It's a balance fragile and new
It's a space where every child is born
That's where Jessy and I grew.

What a beautiful dedication to the girl you used to know although I feel that possibly you are still friends but you are just talking of the times you had before.

This stanza is so pure. Children are so innocent aren't they? The way you describe the friendship here is beautiful. I feel the 'were' on the last penultimate line should be 'where' though
