On This Good Friday

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 18, 2014

O Lord, I am not worthy....

You claimed our scars as yours,
nails piercing your hands, feet,
as I bow over to kiss and venerate
the holy cross you died upon.

Near this hour,
you breathed your last,
"My God, why have you
forsaken me?"
to those final words,
"It is finished."

Yet you will rise again,
and you will always reside
within us.

The face of Christ bloodied
and beaten,
now a constant reminder of
divine love.
Each hour, each day,
we crucify you,
hailing you as a victim.
We have crafted a thousand
crowns made of harmful thorns,
however, you give your life so willingly
to souls so wayward and corrupt.

(O Lord, I am not worthy)...

Very appropriate poem for Easter, The passion and the innocence inside this poem is so strong, the innocent soul that knows life should not be taken for granted, and that there is a path to follow, yet so many people become lost, and are led stray from the right path.

    We have crafted a thousand
    crowns made of harmful thorns,

    - I love love love this line, it is so powerful, true, unique, and catchy. It is like a little slogan for the poem itself.

So glad you shared this poem, I enjoyed, thank you! x

    Mary Anne..

I am bawling. This is so incredibly beautiful and touching. I found myself nodding along to every single word I read.

It's amazing..the sacrifice, the payment for our sins. So selfless, so painful. A lot of people question me lately asking why God would allow them to crucify Jesus if He was a loving God, how could He be so cruel?

He knew what humanity had become. He knew sin was within us all, as we are all sinners. He knows His creation better than any single person or creature on this Earth. Satan did NOT want Jesus to be crucified that day because then he knew he lost. God is so loving that he gave His only son for US. And how right your words are, Lord we are not worthy.

    What a beautiful poem.
